Classes: Wednesdays at 11am (CST)
This is an excellent introduction to literary discussions for young students. Delving into new literary worlds, students will explore story elements such as character, setting, and plot. They will also be challenged to ponder deep themes and develop critical thinking skills.
This 12-week, semester-long course will meet once a week via zoom for an interactive 50 minute classroom session. While there will be short writing assignments throughout the semester, our primary focus will be building a deeper appreciation and understanding of the books we read.
Book List:
The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen
D'Aulaires Book of Greek Myths
Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis
Our theme this year is myth - introducing young readers to classical stories and characters.
