Classes: Wednesdays at 10am
Delving into new literary worlds, students will explore story elements such as character, setting, and plot. They will also be challenged to ponder deep themes and develop critical thinking skills. While these books are challenging, we discuss how to read them and analyze them more deeply.
This 12-week, semester-long course will meet once a week via zoom for an interactive 50-minute classroom session. While there will be short writing assignments throughout the semester, our primary focus will be building a deeper appreciation and understanding of the books we read.
Book List:
Beowulf (the Seamus Heaney version is recommended)
Robin Hood by Howard Pyle
Henry V by William Shakespeare
Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Our theme this year is heroes - introducing high school scholars to great heroes in an accessible way.
